MEN'S QUARTER-FINAL: #4 CBC vs #5 CAMOSUN
Camosun cans Cats in Quarters
The hometown Camosun College Chargers downed the Columbia Bible Bearcats tonight in four straight sets in the Match #4 of the BCCAA Provincial Volleyball Championships hosted by Camosun College.
The Chargers took an early lead with two very decisive sets (25-18 and 25-19). Just when fans thought Camosun would take it in three, the Bearcats clawed back taking a 5-1 lead to start off the third set. The Cats held Camosun at bay and took the set 25-20. In the fourth, Camosun reversed the momentum and came out blasting with their own 5-1 lead. Despite several attempts to close the gap, the Bearcats could not force Camosun into a fifth set and the Chargers won the match scoring 25-20 in the fourth.
Players of the Match were first-year setter Jason Warkentin from CBC and third-year right side Aleks Saddlemyer from Camosun.
While the Bearcats pack for the return home, the Chargers advance to the semi-finals where they will face the number one UBCO Heat, tomorrow at 8pm in Match #8!
