Congratulations to UBC Okanagan women's golfer Jennifer Woods and Camosun College men's golfer Brett Webster who were awarded BCCAA golf athletes of the week. Jennifer Woods Jennifer Woods has once again taken top spot in the BCCAA Women’s Golf league with a 4 tournament total of 649 strokes, 39 strokes better than the 2nd place Rampuri of Douglas College. Woods won the final tournament at her home club, The Okanagan Golf Club, in Kelowna with a two day total of 164. She also led her UBC Okanagan Team to the 2009 Team Gold Medal. The final BCCAA tournament followed an extremely successful National Championship in which Jen finished as the 4th best female golfer in Canada. With her teammate, Alana Kent, Woods brought home a National Silver Medal for the UBC Okanagan Women’s Golf Team. Woods is in her 2nd year of eligibility and a graduate of Rutland Senior Secondary. Brett WebsterMen’s Golf Camosun College While ending the 2008 season outside the Provincial Championship medals, the Camosun Chargers men’s golf team made a strong come-back in 2009 with a BCCAA Silver Medal and a 5th Place finish at the CCAA Nationals (the highest finish of all BC teams). The Chargers opened the season with a second-place finish, followed by two straight wins and another second-place finish to complete the season. With only two strokes separating the Gold and Silver Medal teams, it was a tight race to the finish. First-year Charger Brett Webster (Yale Secondary, Abbotsford) was a crucial force in Camosun’s pursuit of the BCCAA title, penciling in the lowest individual scores of the season for the final two weeks of competition. Webster also holds the lowest single round score of the season which he earned on Day 1 of the TRU Invitational with a remarkable 66-stroke game. With a cumulative total of 567 strokes over four tournaments, Brett closes out the year as the 2009 BCCAA Men’s Golf Individual Gold Medalist. |
